BIRDIE POD - The reference ball

BIRDIE POD - Der Referenzball

In the following article, we want to explain in more detail what the reference ball on the BirdiePod is all about and why it is the key to success.

The position of your eyes in relation to the ball and the putting line is crucial for the result of your putting.

  1. If your eyes are directly over the ball and in the direction of the putting line, you have the correct distance to the ball, you have a balanced address position and you have the best chance that your putter will hit the ball squarely and in the center at impact.

  1. Ideally, your left eye should be directly over the ball if you are right-handed.
  1. Probably the biggest problem in putting is that we golfers tend to move our head to the right during the backswing and then back to the left towards the target during the follow-through. So, if we sway back and forth, we will rarely hit the ball squarely and in the center at impact, and consequently, it will not roll on the putting line but will miss the hole to the left or right.

The Birdie Pod trains you out of that!
  1. Throughout the entire swing, make sure that your left eye is always directly over the reference ball and that your playing ball is not visible (it may only emerge from the "shadow" of the reference ball after impact).

So your eye should only ever see one golf ball!

Train this consistently and as often as possible - your putting will improve quickly and sustainably - because...
  1. a significant advantage of the reference ball (e.g., compared to a mirror placed behind the golf ball) is that your eyes and thus the memory function of your brain always encounter the same situation - they always focus on only one object during training as well as on the course or in a tournament - namely on a golf ball: the learning effect is immense, your body quickly and sustainably learns that it must not sway back and forth.
